FRAEW Opening-Up Works Across Multiple Buildings | DMC Group UK

DMC Group was appointed to carry out critical opening-up works across a portfolio of buildings to assist a Fire Engineer in assessing the condition and composition of external wall systems. These investigations enabled the preparation of detailed Fire Risk Assessments of External Walls (FRAEW), laying the groundwork for future remediation and compliance planning.
Project Overview
DMC Group worked with a Fire Engineer to inspect building façades. We carefully opened up parts of the external wall so they could be checked for fire safety. The work followed FRAEW (Fire Risk Assessment of External Walls) guidance.
Scope of Work
We carried out:
Careful removal of wall and façade parts
Access using scaffold towers and MEWPs
Support during fire safety inspections
Reinstating any areas after inspection
Clear records, including photos and site notes
Working closely with fire safety teams and the client
Supporting Fire Safety Checks
This work helped the Fire Engineer:
See how the wall was built
Find any flammable materials
Check for cavity barriers
Measure fire safety risk using PAS 9980
We worked quietly and carefully to avoid disturbing people in the building.
Outcome
The client received the data needed for a full FRAEW report. This helped them plan next steps for fire safety or cladding work. Our team made sure everything was safe, clear, and fully recorded.
