Women in Construction: Building a More Inclusive Future

27 May 2025

The construction industry in the UK is evolving — and women are playing an increasingly vital role in shaping that transformation. At DMC Group, we’re proud to support the growing number of women who are contributing their skills, knowledge, and leadership across all areas of our business.

Although women currently make up around 15% of the UK construction workforce, that number is rising steadily. From engineering and surveying to project management and site operations, more women are entering the field and demonstrating that construction is a career for everyone.

Driving Positive Change in the Industry

DMC Group is committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity and inclusion. We recognise that a more balanced workforce leads to better outcomes — not just for our company, but for our clients and communities as well.

Our efforts to support women in construction include:

Offering equal opportunities for training, advancement, and leadership

Providing inclusive site facilities and supportive team environments

Working with industry bodies and local education providers to promote construction careers to women and girls

Encouraging flexible working arrangements where possible to support work–life balance

Inspiring the Next Generation

We actively engage with schools, colleges, and career initiatives to help raise awareness of the opportunities available to women in the construction sector. By promoting real-life pathways and providing access to apprenticeships and mentorship, we aim to break down outdated perceptions and encourage more young women to consider construction as a fulfilling career.

Our Commitment

As part of our long-term strategy, DMC Group will continue to invest in inclusive recruitment, development, and retention practices. We believe that a successful construction business reflects the diversity of the communities it serves — and that means creating space for women to succeed, lead, and thrive.
